Now Playing: Moxy Chattanooga Downtown Open

Moxy Chattanooga Downtown opened its doors on November 15 with much fanfare and the whir of a chainsaw. After weeks of excitement in the Chattanooga community, the 108-room hotel is open for business, using the #nowplaying to highlight its fun, eclectic approach. Guests arrived at 4 PM to take in the rustic modern décor in the expansive lobby where Bar Moxy serves as entertainment hub and check-in desk. The first guest, a Marriott Platinum Rewards Member, checked in with confetti and fanfare.
After viewing the impressive new space, guests fanned outside into the November cold for quick speeches by Regional Manager of Operations Michael DePrez, 3H CEO Hiren Desai and Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke. Captain (GM) Dwayne Massengale then sliced the “ribbon,” a large Moxy banner, in half with a thunderous chainsaw. Guests came back into the warmth greeted with festive champagne cocktails, specially created by the Moxy Crew for the occasion.

This “UnRibbon Cutting” perfectly exemplifies the Moxy brand’s style, where the fresh and unexpected is always the norm. The night had added meaning as half of all proceeds from the night’s sales went to The Alzheimer’s Association, an organization with special meaning to the Moxy Crew. In addition, CEO Hiren Desai pledged to match that contribution. Moxy Chattanooga Downtown is the now the 9th Moxy Hotel in the nation and only the second in the southeastern United States, following New Orleans. Moxy is Marriott International’s new experiential brand which capitalizes on the “everything you need and nothing you don’t” philosophy, while never compromising on comfort or style.
